This course is for registered massage therapists only.  We will be covering topics of labour preparation, labour, delivery. As well as the common complaints, drug usage, positioning and attending a birth. Assessment and treatment of common presentations in the postpartum period will be discussed and practiced. Contraindications and precautions will also be addressed.

Introduction to the complicated pregnancy will give the learner a foundation for massage therapists to understand presentations of complicated pregnancies. During the course we will look at understanding presentations, considerations with assessment and treatment planning. We will be discussing the most common placental, fetal and uterine issues. Contraindications and precautions will also be addressed. Reviewing the Cesarean Section pages in the Labour, Birth and Postpartum workbook will be very helpful. We will be covering topics of breast assessment, introductory breast treatment, positioning, draping and protocol. As well as the common prenatal and postpartum breast complaints. Contraindications and precautions will also be addressed. Note: You need to take Pt. 6 before Pt. 7 , but you can take Pt 6 & Pt 7 in the same weekend.
